Tequila Atanasio originates in the small community of San Pedro de los Landeros, just ten minutes northwest of the town of Tequila, Jalisco. Its name comes from Greek roots meaning “immortal,” paying tribute to the uncle Atanasio, an agave farmer who lived to be 103 years old. In his honor, and inspired by his belief that “A sip of vino de mezcal—what tequila used to be called—never hurt anyone”, the number 103 is proudly displayed on the neck of each bottle. Today, guided by Master Tequilero René Carranza, Atanasio crafts tequilas that embody authenticity and capture the true spirit of the Tequila Valley.
